T.I. has been on a multi-year mission to make sure that everyone knows that he invented trap music.
But there have been some recent challenges to that narrative. Last month, Atlanta producer Sonny Digital credited Jeezy and Shawty Redd with inventing the genre. (For his part, Jeezy has said Tip can "have" the title of Trap's inventor because he doesn't want it.)
On Saturday, Gucci Mane provoked Tip by jumping on IG and taking credit for being trap music's daddy.
When T.I. caught wind of that, he pointed out that his 2003 album Trap Muzik came out two years before Gucci's debut album Trap House and suggested that Gucci discovered trap like Christopher Columbus (didn't really) discover America.
