RZA Responds After U-God Says He's Ruining Wu-Tang

by HHL JT

In his new book, U-God accused RZA of messing up Wu-Tang.

“Right now, it just looks like the Wu brothers are not on the same page, going at each other’s throats, missing shows and all that," wrote U-God. "But to me, it’s really years of BS catching up to RZA ...  Things started changing little by little, guys got fed up and eventually we all got individual managers to negotiate and serve as a buffer from all the bullshit. It was no longer one for all and all for one."

U-God also said that RZA never got Wu-Tang good management -- even though he always had A-list agents repping him personally.

RZA has responded to that in an interview with Rolling Stone.

"Look, every man has a right to write a book,” he said. “Some books are fiction and some books are nonfiction. Some are myths, some are fantasy, some are sci-fi—I don’t know if this book falls totally in nonfiction.

“I could never be a control freak,” he continues. “If Wu-Tang is a dictatorship, how does every Wu-Tang member have their own contract, their own career and have put out more albums without me than they’ve done with me?”

He also addressed the agent allegations:

"Agents solicit you," he told Rolling Stone. "You don't solicit them. I got my agent because I wanted to score movies – I did "Ghost Dog" – and my manager thought it would be smart to get an agent and I signed with UTA and I ended up becoming a good piece of business for Hollywood, and I grew. That is that."

Do you think "that is that", or is their more to the RZA vs. Wu-Tang story?
