Remy Ma Denies Knowing The Woman She Shot In 2007 Despite Reports

by Daryl Nelson

In July of 2007, Remy Ma was accused of shooting a woman named Makeda Barnes-Joseph outside of a New York City nightclub, which she served six years in prison for.

According to reports at the time, The Bronx rapper accused Barnes-Joseph of stealing $3,000 from her purse. It was also said the woman was Remy's best friend, which Remy denied on The Wendy Williams Show.

"Here's the thing. This girl wasn't my best friend," Remy explained. "All of these things [reported] all of these years were not true, but once you're in prison no one cares. Once you come home, I'm not gonna spend the rest of my life trying to prove to people, like, I don't know this person. I found out about her last name when y'all found out. When y'all read it in the newspaper ... I didn't shoot anybody. Do y’all really think every time the D.A., the judge, the jury got it right every single time? No, they didn’t."
