Raekwon Says RZA Turned Down A Wu-Tang Biopic That Involved Leonardo DiCaprio

by Daryl Nelson

Raekwon said that he once met with Leonardo DiCaprio to discuss a Wu-Tang Clan biopic but RZA turned it down cold.

The Chef first met with DiCaprio at a pizza shop to discuss the film and that led to a meeting with executives from his production company.

But once they all sat in a room together, Rae said he could tell that RZA had no interest in doing the movie, because he wanted to do a TV series on the group instead.

“He barely said anything and seemed to be going through the motions, nothing more,” Raekwon wrote in his new memoir From Staircase to Stage: The Story of Raekwon and Wu-Tang Clan. "I could tell he wasn’t going to agree to do it, and my instincts told me why: my guess is that he was already in bed with a production company, deep into developing the scripted series for TV, even though none of us had signed off on it.”

“This bullsh*t hurt my feelings because it proved to me that he’d already counted me out before I began,” Rae went on. “He didn’t think I could bring that kind of power to the table, but I’d gotten them there, all ready to rock and roll. They were excited and connected, so with the snap of a finger they could have gotten the ball rolling for real.”

In related news, RZA recently said that a film on Ol' Dirty Bastard is coming.

As for Leo ... he's instead gonna play Jim Jones.
