Dr. J. And 76ers Owner Support Meek Mill; Huge Rally Planned For Today

by HHL JT

A lot of folks are really going to bat for Meek Mill after a Pennsylvania judge sentenced him to 2-4 years in prison for violating probation.  The list of Meek defenders includes JAY-Z, Kevin Hart and the co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers Michael Rubin.

Before Meek was sentenced, Rubin wrote a letter to the judge on his behalf and said he was someone that was trying to better himself. The Sixers co-owner talked about meeting the rapper at an NBA All-Star game and pleaded with the judge not to hand down a lengthy prison term.

"As we sat together for the first time, he was peppering me with questions about business," wrote Rubin. "I quickly saw that he had a genuine desire to learn, grow and advance his career and find a way to have a positive impact on his community ... I want you to know that I am personally invested in helping him, so that he can help others ... He not only has a bright future but also a unique opportunity to inspire young men at a time when others are tearing them down. I would hate to have him incarcerated for these violations. I truly believe that such a sentence would destroy his future."

Rubin also plans to attend a major rally for Meek that’s taking place in Philly today at 5 PM and will be hosted by retired NBA star Julius “Dr. J.” Irving and Meek's MMG boss Rick Ross. The rally has been promoted by folks like Diddy and Kevin Hart, so it’ll be interesting to see if anything comes of it.

Do you think the rally and all the big names that are supporting Meek will actually lower his sentence?

As you can see, folks are getting bused in for it.
