LaVar Ball's Comment To ESPN's Molly Qerim Rose Called Inappropriate By Network

by Daryl Nelson

LaVar Ball got himself into some hot water after making a comment to ESPN's Molly Qerim Rose that some considered sexual.

Lavar was on ESPN's "First Take" on Monday to talk about his son Lonzo getting traded to the Pelicans for Anthony Davis. Rose, who's Jalen Rose's wife, asked Lavar to "switch gears," and that's when he made the questionable comment.

"You can switch gears with me any time," he said.

Stephen A. Smith made a face and a lot of viewers used forums like Twitter to complain.

ESPN issued a statement later in the day.

"LaVar Ball’s comment to Molly Qerim Rose was completely inappropriate. We made him aware of that," they said.

But LaVar said people took his comment the wrong way and issued a statement through his spokesperson.

"[LaVar] was asked if he wanted to switch gears, in his mind switching gears was 'changing the subject anytime' and he said, 'yes, you can switch gears with me anytime.' At no time was that intended or meant to be sexual in nature," said his rep Denise White.

What do you think about LaVar's comment?
