J. Cole wasn't always Mr. No Features.

He made regular use of them on his albums before 2014's 2014 Forest Hill Drive.

But he hasn't since, and once Forest Hill sold a million the famous J. Cole going platinum with no features meme was born.

He spoke on the meme in his new interview with GQ.

"I was loving it. I was like, ‘Word up — this is funny as hell.’ But the second or third time, I was like, 'All right, it’s almost embarrassing now.' Like, ‘All right, man, y’all gonna make me put a feature on the album just so this s*** can stop.'"

So will he?

"Well, I don’t have any right now that I really want to boast about," he continued. "Not saying it’s impossible. It’s just about getting out of my comfort zone."

4 Your Eyez Only and KOD also went platinum without features. We would expect his next album, The Fall Off, will too. Unless he decides to put the meme to rest by calling up Drake or Kendrick or another one of his friends.
