Freddie Gibbs Says Bandana LP With Madlib Might Be His Last Album

by Daryl Nelson

Freddie Gibbs' Bandana album with Madlib could be the last project he puts out.

“I’m done with, you know, that Madlib album, so I just been sitting on that,” he said about the Bandana album in an interview with Rap Radar. “I mean, I got money. I don’t gotta put it out yet. I’m straight, I’m good. I could put it out when it’s time to put it out, but that’s the beauty of this.”

Gibbs and Madlib dropped their first album together Piñata in March of 2014, and the anticipation for the follow-up has been extremely high. But the rapper decided to release his Freddie album first.

“I just wasn’t ready yet,” he told Rap Radar. “I wanted to do something else first. I was like, ‘Man, I wanna do this first.’ I don’t wanna put that out yet ’cause I feel like, I don’t know, that might be my last project.”

There's no telling if the drama Freddie faced behind his 2016 rape charge has anything to do with his possible early retirement but it might. Earlier this week, he spoke about having to restore his good name after he was acquitted.
