Eminem Talks About His Main Issue With Rap Critics

by Daryl Nelson

Eminem has been critically praised since bursting onto the scene with 1999's The Slim Shady LP. But he's also received some bad reviews, like in 2018 when a lot of people came down on his Kamikaze album.

During a sit down on his manager Paul Rosenberg's Paul Pod: Curtain Call 2 podcast, the "Lose Yourself" rapper talked about his issue with rap critics and how many aren't qualified to give reviews.

“It’s frustrating when you’re doing some sh*t technically, and people who think they know what the f*ck rap is about start giving opinions on it, but they don’t hear what the f*ck you’re doing," Em explained, according to AllHipHop. “Like if I rhyme an entire f*cking sentence and every syllable hit, they would literally think that at the end of it I was rhyming ‘bat’ and ‘cat’… There’s an art to that ... We ain’t listening with the same ears.”

Any reaction to Em's gripe with rap critics?
