August Alsina Explains Where Things Currently Stand Between Him & Jada Pinkett Smith

In 2020 Jada Pinkett Smith admitted to getting into an "entanglement" with August Alsina, meaning they had an affair.

The Set It Off star said their romance began when she and husband Will Smith were on the outs.

Alsina talked about the affair with Entertainment Tonight while promoting the reboot of VH1's The Surreal Life since he's one of the cast members.

"I honestly said no about 10 times," said the singer about being on the show. "I would say that going into it, that probably was one of the factors for me that I felt like, 'Hmm, do I really want to do this?' Because I didn't want to go into a situation where people would grab for low-hanging fruit."

Alsina also said he had "absolutely zero" communication with Jada and the Smiths. He then addressed her decision to talk about their affair on her Red Table Talk show.

"I can only be responsible for myself," he said. "I can only be responsible for my own actions and hold myself accountable for what I do, what I say, and what I know to be true for myself. To be honest with you, I’m not necessarily surprised about anybody’s actions these days. Everybody has the right to say, reveal whatever they decide. I’m not the police of that."
