America's Pear Growers Have Officially Thanked Rick Ross For Endorsement

by HHL Editors

Ever since Rick Ross attributed his weight lose to pears on Instagram last month, the fruit has become huge on the Internet. Suddenly the pear emoji is getting the attention usually reserved for its more popular cousin the apple and everybody is having fun Photoshopping Ross with pears. Fans have even started asking Ross to sign the fruit.

While sales of actual pears have yet to see an uptick, USA Pears’ spokesperson Kathy Stephenson has seen her organization gain hundreds of Twitter followers in the last couple weeks, which she believes Ross is responsible for. In an email to Modern Farmer she thanked Ross for endorsing her nutritious product.

"On behalf of our 1,600 pear growers from the Northwest region, we are pleased that Rick has mentioned the health benefits of pears," Stephenson writes, adding that pears provide 24 percent of the recommended daily intake of fiber, which helps curb an appetite. "Overall, we could not be more pleased with our message being delivered to a new, young and hip demographic."
Shout out to all the pear!
