50 Cent Responds To Drake Saying that He Influenced Him To Sing

by Daryl Nelson

It's been a pretty major week for 50 Cent.

He received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, he said he turned over a new leaf because of Kobe Bryant's tragic passing, and he had a major interview with Variety that was recently published.

50 spoke about Drake in some of that interview, because in December Drizzy told Rap Radar that Fif influenced him to sing.

"'21 Questions' will probably be my most inspiring example of a guy who's not supposed to be singing, singing," Drake said then.

Here's Fif's reaction to that praise

"Drake was saying recently that I had influenced him to start singing, which was the coolest sh*t in the world for him to say, because I can’t sing as good as he sings," Fif explained. "I was always just trying to outline the melody. Because once you have a broad enough audience, you’re gonna have people who don’t speak English, so all they can follow is the melody. And when you’re writing [lyrics], I mean: ‘Go shorty, it’s your birthday’—that’s not rocket science. Every day is somebody’s birthday."

Why do you think people don't mind rappers singing these days? Compared to yesteryear when it was considered soft for a rapper to sing.
