DJ Khaled doesn't really rap or make beats.
Yet his upcoming album Major Key will feature heavy hitters like Jay Z, Drake, Future and Kendrick Lamar.
How does he do it? Persistence.
In an interview with Music Choice, Khaled says he moved to New York just so he could get Hov's verse on his Major Key single 'I Got The Keys'.
“I basically got a condo in New York City for a whole year to stay close by him and let him know how hungry I was for that verse," Khaled admits. “So I went in studio every day. He was recording his album and I appreciate him letting me be around and capture that greatness, but at and at the same time I was hustling too, you know what I am saying. I wanna get that verse in. It was a year process.”Not mentioned is that Khaled also signed to Jay's management company over that time period.
He must have really wanted that verse.
You can listen to 'I Got The Keys' here and see if it was worth it all.
Major Key drops next Friday, July 29.
