Young Thug is only changing his name to No, My Name Is Jeffery for a week.
Maybe.
He explained what's going on with his weird name evolution in an interview on Travis Scott's WAV Beats 1 show.
"I'm Jeffery for one fucking week," he said. "If I don’t sell a 100,000 copies."This is interesting on a couple levels. First it suggests his upcoming project Jeffery, which was assumed to be a mixtape, is some kind of for sale, streaming hybrid.
Thug's a little hard to understand, so it could also be he's saying he'll have to be called No, My Name Is Jeffery indefinitely if he doesn't hit 100K first week.
There is also some confusion about the date. While 300 Boss Lyor Cohen says Jeffery is dropping August 26, Thug keeps on insisting August 16 (which is today.)
The artist about to be formally known as Young Thug does like to keep it confusing.
