'Barter VI' Is A Mixtape; Young Thug's Studio Debut Has An Unusual Title

by Sermon

Many thought that Barter 6 was Young Thug's debut album.  But it's not. 300, his label, has stated in a press release that it's a mixtape for sale. (Kind of like Drake's smash If You're Reading This, It's Too Late.) In the same release, 300 boss Lyor Cohen announced Thugger's actual studio debut is coming August 28.

300 Entertainment recording artist Young Thug has announced the release of his new mixtape, BARTER 6. The collection, which marks the rapper’s first solo outing in more than two years, is available now at all digital retailers. Hy!£UN35, Young Thug’s long awaited debut album, arrives at last on August 28th. “300 is proud to present Young Thug! We believe he is a unique artist who will have a special place in the future of hip hop” – Lyor Cohen, 300 Entertainment (via Pigeons & Planes)
What the fy!k is Hy!£UN35? (Yeah, he probably means Hi Tunes, but it's funny because his lyrics can be so hard to understand.) We're sure we'll get an explanation soon via an IG video.
