YK Osiris Says Being A Real Artist Is More Important Than Selling Records, Debate Begins

by Daryl Nelson

A lot of people use the number of record sales a person has to determine an artist's impact, but YK Osiris says sales aren't the most important thing.

“Selling records does not mean nothing,” he wrote on Instagram Stories on Monday, August 22. “Being a true artist and true to the people is more important.”

It wasn't everyone, but some clowned Osiris for his message.

"Bro motivating people who fell off 😂," one person wrote on Instagram.

"Lol that’s like saying scoring in basketball don’t mean nothing but shaking the fans hand after the game, 🤣🤣," wrote someone else.

But the Florida artist isn't the only person who said that record sales aren't everything. Listen to what Tupac Shakur said when someone suggested that MC Hammer is a great artist because he sold 10 million records:

“He did sell 10 million records but the crack fiends bought 10 million rocks that don’t mean crack is good," said Pac.

What's your take on Osiris' tweet?
