Like many of us, Wiz Khalifa celebrates Memorial Day by getting f-ed up and stuffing his face with food.
However, he made that point in a way that could be viewed as insensitive to the original purpose of the holiday, which is to remember those who died while serving in the country's armed forces.
When you get my age Memorial Day is about getting shit faced by the pool, eatin Bbq and not rememberin shit so...Yea.— Wiz Khalifa (@wizkhalifa) May 28, 2017
Twitter backlashed against Wiz's words.
@wizkhalifa You are a real dumbass. If it wasn't for our soldiers you wouldn't have the freedom to do any of those things. They protect us from this pic.twitter.com/Yhbwvlo4vJ— Gerald Harris (@GHurricane) May 28, 2017
@wizkhalifa Oh.. that's weird I thought it was about the soldiers who died fighting for our country— Tristan Pursell (@TristanPursell) May 28, 2017
@wizkhalifa Like damn wiz I just lost all respect for you.— tylers brother (@zacharry_carel) May 28, 2017
@wizkhalifa how bout you at least remember the people that died for you so that you can do those things.....just a thought— Jake Atkins (@JakeAtkins08) May 28, 2017
@wizkhalifa Well you should remember those who have given they lives so you can smoke weed whenever you want in this free country.— A.Landeros (@alan_lando) May 28, 2017
@wizkhalifa Honestly this kinda hurt man. Your fam is military you should know better :(— Cabo San Luke (@LukeAnthony__) May 28, 2017
Wiz tried to clarify a bit, but we doubt that effort is going to please his critics.
Didn't mean anything rude, that was just my way of saying sometime people rather focus on the good times than the bad.— Wiz Khalifa (@wizkhalifa) May 28, 2017
This isn't Wiz's first time through the outrage machine. In March, he pissed off the nation of Colombia by placing flowers on Pablo Escobar's grave.
Does he deserve this trip to Twitter's doghouse?
