We're getting more and more evidence that the Tekashi 6ix9ine experiment may really be over.
Is there another New York rapper ready to take his place?
CJ has a top 20 hit with "Whoopty", which apes the Brooklyn drill sound that the late Pop Smoke brought to the forefront.
CJ has industry ties -- his uncle James Cruz is the former president of Bad Boy -- a deal with Warner, and French Montana is executive producing his upcoming debut EP.
Today, Pitchfork called CJ out as a "ripoff", and Brooklyn drill pioneer 22gz likened him to another borough star who wasn't very authentic: Tekashi 6ix9ine.
"@realcj_ giving me 69 vibes & boy from staten island the safest borough in nyc," 22gz captioned the Pitchfork article about CJ.
