What Many Fail To Realize About Nicki Minaj's "Barbie Dreams" Track

by Alox

The song "Barbie Dreams", a role reversal play on the late, great Notorious B.I.G.'s contoversial (yet playful) record, from Nicki Minaj's newly released "QUEEN" album is what everyone is talking about for obvious reasons.

With bars like:

Drake worth a hundred milli, always buying me shit
But I don't know if the pussy wet or if he's crying and shit
Meek still be in my DMs, I be having to duck em
"I used to pray for times like this"-face ass when I fuck him
Man, Uzi is my baby, he ain't takin' an L
But he took it literally when I said "go to hell"
Used to fuck with Young Thug, I ain't addressing this shit
Caught him in my dressing rooms stealing dresses and shit

It was an instant hit for its comedic and "genius" approach. However... what most fail to realize is that it's already been done... by Nicki, though.

Back in 2007, with the release of her "Playtime's Over" mixtape, Nicki had already made the song "Dreams" with the same beat and approach.

That's right! So, if you enjoy the new-age take on the song, listen to the original below:

That's not all. Lil Kim also put her spin on it even before Nicki. It was part of her debut studio album released in 1996.

Out of all three, which do you prefer?
