It's been smooth sailing for The Weeknd since the Beauty Behind The Madness dropped . But it looks like he's about to hit a rough patch. According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, C.E.M, or Cutting Edge Music, is suing The Weeknd for theft of 'The Hills.'

This company says that 'The Hills' has a bassline that's featured in the score of a movie titled The Machine. They own the licensing rights, and never gave permission to The Weeknd to use it.

To make matters worse, DJ Mano, one of the song's producers, sent a DM to Tom Raybould (the composer). It reads, "'I sampled your music might make it 2 the weeknd next album. Huge fan of what u did 4 the machine movie!'"

It's unknown how much C.E.M. is suing The Weeknd, the producers and his label for.

Compare the two pieces of music and let us know if C.E.M. has a case. What's in question is the bassline.
