The situation in New York keeps getting crazier.
The latest caught-on-tape crime involves a 51-year old getting beat with a hatchet-wielding madman at a Lower Manhattan ATM.

After being struck multiple times and bloodied, the victim manages to grab the ax from his assailant and escape.
He's listed in stable condition and no money was stolen. A man meeting the attacker's description was arrested later in Chelsea. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for a mental evaluation but has yet to be charged.
