Vince Staples Was Right About His Album Not Pulling A Troy Ave/Tyga

by HHL Editors

Earlier this week, Vince Staples was getting Twitter roasted for selling less than 5,000 copies of his debut album Summertime ’06.

Staples fought back, doubting the dire numbers. (Which were based on him not breaking Hits Daily Double's top 50 chart.)

It turns out he was right; Billboard has him moving 13,776 copies of Summertime '06 in its first week.

Although that spares Staples of Troy Ave/Tyga "going wood" infamy, those are still pretty weak numbers considering Staples has the promotional powers of Def Jam and Sprite behind him. (And because the album got really good reviews)

Have you heard Summertime 06? If so, what do you think?

Also show me where that under 5,000 copies came from. Then tell me what that number even means anymore.

Then tell me when they started only selling albums for one weak. Looks like NIGGAS just wanting NIGGAS to do badly. But once you get shot.. — Vince Staples (@vincestaples) July 7, 2015

Also, I dont know why anyones talking to me I just make the music I dont buy it either its good or not anything else I can care less about.

Then you hear the "its different on a independent" argument and my answer is how? Money? We determining things by money now? — Vince Staples (@vincestaples) July 7, 2015

WILDEST part about it is I did more than that on iTunes pre-orders so somebody doesn't know what they're talking about. But if they did? SO?
