Jeremiah Taylor had been maintaining the Young Dolph memorial outside the Memphis cookie shop Dolph met his demise.
The army vet, who had gone to the same high school as Dolph, spent time every day tidying and organizing the mural and tribute.
On Friday he was shot and killed.
Taylor was hit while he was in his car. The car hit a pole and when police arrived he was declared dead.
Police are looking into any connections between Dolph's death and Taylor's murder.
