Tyler, The Creator Could Be Banned From Australia Because Of Rape Lyrics

by HHL Editors

Action Bronson and Rich Homie Quan have gotten in hot water recently for lyrics that reference rape. Action was even removed as the headliner for a Canadian festival because of some (very old) offending bars.

Now it's Tyler, The Creator turn to go through that ringer, and he may end up being banned from an entire country.

The activist group Collective Shout is petitioning the Australian Prime Minister to deny Tyler a visa to enter the island nation because his lyrics advocate rape and extreme violence against women in the form of murder, genital mutilation, stuffing women into car-trunks, trapping them in his basement, raping their corpses and burying their bodies. On top of that, the group says Tyler is a risk to incite violence.

Tyler is scheduled to tour Australia in September.

Since Tyler doesn't have a criminal record, denying him entry into Australia would be unusual.

But such a move isn't unprecedented. In fact, just last year all of Odd Future was banned from Australia's neighbor nation New Zealand because they were deemed "a potential threat to public order."
