According to the film's producer Randall Emmett, a big screen Tupac biopic is set to begin filming in June. Speaking to Collider, Emmett said the script is "great" and that they are currently "prepping the film's logistics."
As had been previously reported, the budget for the film is in the $45 million range. Tupac's mom Afeni Shakur will be co-producing and has given the filmmakers the all-important rights to her late son's songs.
"We went to be real and raw about the gangster life," Emmett said when discussing the project. "But we also want to honor the talent."
No word on who will play Tupac. Check out Emmett's interview below.
