A decade ago, Travie McCoy was fronting the Gym Class Heroes and dating Katy Perry.
It's been a tough ten years for the alternative-rapper. He's been open with his opioid struggles, which have plagued him since he's 15 but got a lot worse when he ripped up his knee and was prescribed painkillers.
“I tore my ACL, MCL, meniscus; twisted all that shit up so I’m in the hospital all summer and they put me on OxyContin,” he said on RA The Rugged Man's podcast latest year. “And they sent me home with a prescription full [of Oxy] and from that point on … and the first time I ran out, I got hella sick withdrawals.”
McCoy ended up turning to heroin. He says he's kicked and has been better lately. However, recent photos have him looking older than his 36 years.
The good news is McCoy is featured on the new Train track "Everybody Calls Me Sir." Hopefully, he'll be able to stay clean and get his career back to where it once was.
