Toronto Rapper Smoke Dawg Shot & Killed in Broad Daylight

by HHL JT

Up-and-coming rapper Smoke Dawg was shot and killed in Toronto’s Entertainment District yesterday shortly before 8 PM.

He was one of three victims of the shooting. Another male is hospitalized with critical injuries and a woman is in the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The shooters escaped in a black car.

“Our investigators are on-scene right now trying to piece this together,” Const. David Hopkinson told CP24“It is a large scene. We’re talking about the downtown core and Queen Street – one of the busiest streets on a very busy Canada Day weekend.”

The broad daylight murder had many witnesses and there are very graphic videos of Dawg's death circulating on the web.

“We heard multiple, multiple gunshots. They came in two sets. There was a set of three to four, four to five and then a pause and then another set of literally three to four, four to five,” one man told CP24.

“The scene just turned chaotic. There were people running everywhere, there were vehicles just trying to get out of the way. Down on Peter Street we just saw a mass of tourists – normal Saturday traffic on Queen Street – basically running scared for their lives. It was intense, it was very chaotic."

Smoke Dawg, 21, was known for his feature on the Mo-G track "Still" and a remix of French Montana’s "Trap House." Last year, he was an opening act on the European leg of Drake's Boy Meets World tour.
