Tooka's Mom Speaks On the Constant Chief Keef Influenced Disrespect of Dead Son

by HHL JT

In 2012, 15-year-old Gangster Disciple Shondale Gregory, aka Tooka, was shot killed as he waited at a Chicago bus stop.

It was part of a spate of gang-related violence that claimed many lives, both in and out of the rap game.

Tooka was a rival of Chief Keef and Sosa popularized the term "smoking on Tooka."

Tooka's mom Dominique Boyd spoke on the disrespect shown to her late son in an interview with the Drea O Show.  [Jump to three minutes.]

"It's the negative impact [of his name] I don't like.  He got his nickname from the hospital," she said. "They called him 'Attitude,' I shortened it up to 'Tooka.' ... I don't get how they could be intimidated by someone who 15 years old and want to take a person and want to be making it into a strand of weed. Like how could you go from 'smoking on Tooka?' Like where did that come from? Who smokes on a dead person?

It makes me upset. Where does the level of disrespect stop? He's already dead. He's here to do nothing to nobody.  "People are just so cruel out here in this world. ... He was only 15 year olds. My son been dead for ten years. ... If it ain't the upcoming [rappers], people that's the ones already in the industry—and they don't even know my son. It's something somebody else said about my son.  It's not fair ... It's ongoing.  I just want it to stop."

Should people stop saying "smoking on Tooka"?
