Tony Yayo Talks Diddy Passing On 50 Cent & Taking J. Cole To 50

by Daryl Nelson

Tony Yayo has a newly released interview on VladTV where he talked about Diddy not wanting to sign 50 Cent to Bad Boy. It was shortly after the G-Unit boss was shot nine times in his home borough of Queens.

“A lot of people don’t know this story,” said Yayo. “50 went to Diddy for Bad Boy. A lot of people don’t know that. We had the meeting, and it was so crazy that Diddy didn’t sign him. I know that was one of the biggest mistakes of Bad Boy ... I remember Diddy said this, he don’t even remember. He said, ‘Yeah, we can’t sign you, playboy. It’s too much. It’s too much drama with the Biggie stuff and all that.'”

Elsewhere in the interview, Yayo talked about bringing J. Cole to 50 Cent before the North Carolina spitter signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation.

"I was on J. Cole early," said Yayo. "When J. Cole was in 50’s crib, he was in the basement, playing ‘Simba’ before he was signed to Jay ... That’s one of my talents is finding the next ones. It’s easy.”

What do you think Cole's career would've looked like if he signed to 50, and what would 50's career be if he signed to Bad Boy?
