Diff'rent Strokes star Todd Bridges tried to do a good deed.

And he was punished by a sucker puncher.

The 53-year old was helping his wheelchair-bound neighbor evict a woman from the neighbor's San Fernando Valley home when the woman's boyfriend jumped in and floored Bridges with his fist.

"No one likes to be sucker punched, but I am glad that I was there to help my neighbor, who was faced with a potentially dangerous situation," Bridges said in a statement. "Much rather it was me, and not my neighbor."

Bridges struggled with drug addiction after starring as Willis on Diff'rent Strokes  between 1978 and 1985, and in 1989 he was charged with the attempted murder of a cocaine dealer.

But he beat the case sobered up, and has remained a working actor and part-time good samaritan.
