The First Week Projections For Kanye West's "Ye" Are In

by HHL JT

There's never been an album rollout like there was for Kanye West's Ye.

Kanye dominated the news cycle in the run-up to his eighth album with his scattershot views on everything from Donald Trump to liposuction to slavery. Then he flew half of the Hip Hop world to Wyoming for its launch party.

Did it all work?

Hits Daily Double projects Ye will do 175-190k SPS first week, with 70-80K of those traditional album sales. That's about twice as much as his last album The Life Of Pablo did first week. However, that's not really a symmetrical comp, as Pablo was mostly just on Tidal.

Perhaps it's best to compare West's Ye to recent albums from his contemporaries Eminem and JAY-Z. In December of 2017, Shady's Revival did 267K SPS with 197K in traditional sales. In June of 2017, Hov's 4:44 did 262K SPS with 174K in traditional sales.

What do you think of Ye and its sales performance so far?
