Rapper T-Wayne Responds To Lil Wayne/T-Pain Album 'T-Wayne' [VIDEO]

When the new Lil Wayne-T-Pain collaborative album "T-Wayne" was first pitched eight years ago, the rapper T-Wayne wasn't on the radar.

But he is now.  The Houston rapper responded to the backlash he's getting for sharing his name with an album from two much more famous Hip Hop figures.

The experience that I’ve been having with it being my name is that I’ve been getting a whole lot of backlash for no reason just because my name is T-Wayne. I didn’t choose for my name to be T-Wayne. Like my first and middle name put together [Tyson and Dwayne], it’s just how I was born. So since I was little it’s just been T-Wayne. Their fans have been coming at me. ‘You need to change your name! You need to stop that! Your career is done! Don’t ever try to compare yourself to legends.’ But I didn’t, it’s just my name.”
T-Wayne sometimes uses the pseudonym Rickey Wayne to alleviate concerns that he's biting Lil Wayne and T-Pain. But he says he will continue to officially be T-Wayne.
