T-Pain Recently Had To Borrow Money To Buy Burger King [VIDEO]

In an interview with Gary Vaynerchuk, T-Pain admitted all the criticism of his auto-tuning ways really got to him.

It was especially harsh when it came from artists he admired.

"It was all people I looked up to. That's the worst part," he said of the hate. "It sucks. I literally gave up. I told my wife I didn't want to do it anymore. It was just a complete blatant I'm done. If people aren't going to respect me, I'm done."

T-Pain said that led to about four years of extreme depression and heavy drinking.

He recently snapped out of it with help from his wife -- and also the cold hard reality of going broke.

"I definitely had to run out of money first,” Teddy tells Vaynerchuk. “I had to borrow money to get Burger King. It got that bad. And I still had artists, and stuff. I was paying for photoshoots, and I was borrowing money to do all that."

T-Pain dropped Oblivion, his fifth album (and first since 2011), earlier this month.

His long awaited joint project T-Wayne with Lil Wayne came out this summer.
