T.I. Defends Young Thug's 'Mumble Rap' By Likening It To James Brown And ODB

by HHL Editors

If you find Young Thug a bit hard to understand you are not alone. Some have even gone as far as calling the ATLer's flow "Mumble Rap."

The Thugger sings the hook on T.I.'s single 'About The Money,' so obviously he sees something in the youngster's voice. Tip defended the oddball's vocal style during a CRWN interview with Elliot Wilson.

"In his defense, let me ask you – Did you understand everything ODB was saying?" wondered Tip. "Did you understand everything Bone Thugs-N-Harmony was saying? Did your momma and daddy understand everything James Brown was saying? Your momma and daddy didn't understand what James Brown was saying. They just liked it."

What do you think? The comp to the ODB seems fair enough to us, at least if you are focusing strictly on vocal comprehension.

Anyway, are you sure you want to hear exactly what Young Thug is saying?

(As for James Brown, Eddie Murphy nailed his difficult vocal style in this famous skit.)
