T-Boz Speaks on How LA Reid, Drake, Nelly and T.I. Turned Their Backs On TLC

by HHL JT

In an interview with Hollywood Unlocked, T-Boz spoke on all of the famous names that turned their backs on TLC from when Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes died in 2002 to when TLC made a triumphant return during the 2014 Super Bowl weekend. [Jump to three minutes.]

"LA [Reid], all the big execs who we put on the map, made them all kind of millions. It was like, 'Umph,' T-Boz zaid.

"Then the artists. I remember the one who said yes was VH1 Superbowl Blitz," T-Boz recalled. "That concert was the most stressful, hectic concert but it ended up being the greatest. Like, our sound guy, his stomach exploded. He was in the ER. Nelly was supposed to open, he was on a plane.  Soon as he land and we have a police escort, he’s like, 'I got to get my hair cut.' And Dougie Fresh came through and Misty Copeland, because I was like maybe God wanted it this way so we can still prove to people that we don’t need nobody else to rock a show. Drake he pulled out. We had just did his OVO Fest. He was like, 'I don't know, I'm working on my performance.' So we were like, 'Oh my God!' like, T.I., everybody."

"And I don’t blame them," T-Boz said. "Sometimes you wonder if it because you don't know that you're going to look sucker-free Sunday standing next to us because it may be over or you don't want to be a part of that."

According to T-Boz, it didn't matter that all of those big names bailed. The concert was still a huge success and she says it put TLC back on the map.
