Sweden's most popular rapper Einar was shot and killed execution-style in an upscale Stolkholm suburb last night.
Einar, 19, topped the Swedish charts at age 16 with the track "Katten i Trakten". He has four hit albums and has won multiple Grammys in the Scandinavian county.
His murder comes about a year after the 19-year-old was kidnapped by a rival gang. The gang claimed that they repeatedly sexually assaulted Einar during the abduction to humiliate him.
Two men, Yasin Byn and Haval Khalil, were sent to prison for the kidnapping. However, no one was formally charged with the rapes and Byn and Khalil are appealing their sentence.
Einar was supposed to testify in the appeal next week.
In addition, Einar is known to associate with underworld figures, was recently named as a suspect in a stabbing, and Einar's lyrics often touch on gang life.
As such, police believe Einar's execution is gang-related and say he may have had a price on his head.
