Stephen A. Smith Says Carmelo Anthony Doesn't Deserve a Farewell Tour

by Daryl Nelson

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith said Carmelo Anthony doesn't deserve a farewell season.

Smith's comments came after Damian Lillard said Melo should get a final send-off like Dwyane Wade had. Melo hasn't played an since the Houston Rockets released him after ten games last year.

"I don't think he deserves a farewell tour," said Smith on ESPN's First Take. "If you're the New York Knicks he deserves to be honored. If you're the Denver Nuggets he deserves to be honored. But when you talk about a league-wide farewell tour, let's think about that. The Magic Johnsons, the Kareem Abdul-Jabbars, the Dr. Js Julius Ervings, obviously Michael Jordan, guys like that. Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki, champions ... So for me you've never played in the NBA Finals."

Do you agree with Smith?

.@stephenasmith doesn't think Melo is deserving of a farewell tour.
