Spotify Responds To Nicki Minaj's Claims Of Not Promoting 'Queen'

by Daryl Nelson

Spotify has responded to Nicki Minaj's claim that they didn't promote her album Queen to punish her for favoring Apple Music.

“Spotify supported Nicki Minaj with a Times Square billboard, a host of the largest playlists, New Music Friday and the new music release shelf," a statement read. "Her song 'Bed' actually saw an increase based on the promotions put behind the campaign. The company continues to be big fans of Nicki.”

Over the weekend, the "Ganja Burns" rapper" went on Twiter and claimed Spotify had told her they had to teach her a lesson for putting music on Apple supported Queens Radio before their site. In doing so, she mentioned that Spotify gave Drake a ton of promo even though he has an Apple radio show.

"Spotify had to teach me a lesson but rewards the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest, inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most," she tweeted on Sunday. "They took away my promotion they had promised for the first couple of days because of this."

Besides going at Spotify, Nicki also went after Travis Scott, because she had a problem with the way he promoted his Astroworld album -- which ended up beating Queen for Billboard's No. 1 position in its second week. She also got into it with DJ Akademiks over sales numbers and responded to those who criticized her collaboration with Tekashi 6ix9ine.

Do you believe Spotify or do you think they really under-promoted the Queen album?
