Smokepurpp Says He's Changing His Name

Smokepurpp will no longer be Smokepurpp.

During an interview with Peter Rosenberg, the Florida rapper said he plans to change his name in the very near future.

"I'm actually gonna change it to just Purpp soon," he said. "I want to drop the Smoke out my name. People just call me Smokepurpp or Lil Purpp but there's too many Lil's, so I kind of just want to be Purpp. At a point, I'm just gonna be Purpp."

The announcement of the change comes about a month after Purpp was named one of this year's XXL Freshman. Before that he made headlines for trying to fight someone who dissed Kanye West.
