An accused criminal hires a lawyer that he believes can get him out of jail.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, YNW Melly's attorney attempted to go above and beyond his call of duty.
“On April 11, 2022, Broward Sheriff’s Office received a confidential tip regarding inmates Nicholas Lewis and Jamell Demons, both housed in the same unit at the Main Jail, planning an escape from jail by having Demons’ attorney bring in two handcuff keys to aid in the escape. Additional information provided by the source was that Lewis had a shank and drugs,” reads a statement from the Sheriff's Office.
Following the tip, Melly's cell was also searched but no contraband was found.
YNW Melly has been locked up on charges of murder since February 2019 for killing his crew members YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. His trial has yet to begin.
