Security Guard Says Astroworld Festival Was Severely Understaffed

The Astroworld Festival blame game continues.

The Police and Fire Chief of Houston were quick to throw Travis Scott under the bus, claiming the LaFlame had been told the crowd was rowdy so be careful and arguing he didn't do enough from stage to calm things down.

Darius Williams was hired to do security for the event.  He said he could tell the festival's organizers didn't know what they were doing from the beginning.

“It was pretty vague exactly what the roles would be,” Williams said. “The day before Astroworld, I completed the orientation and the training for the process, and when I arrived on Friday morning around 7 a.m., they were still pretty vague. They didn’t really tell us what we would be doing. They just gave us our uniforms."

Willaims added there was only one security guard for up to a thousand people and, as such, if fans rushed the stage security couldn't do anything about it.

Williams ultimately walked away from the job because he felt it would be unsafe, leaving one less security guard.
