Schoolboy Q Says He Was Depressed After His Last Album Didn't Sell Well

by Daryl Nelson

Schoolboy Q  had an interview with Charlamagne Tha God that was just released, and the rapper admitted that he was depressed.

The sad feelings Q had was related to his last album Blank Face not selling as much as his debut Oxymoron, despite having solid reviews. Q's depression also had to do with his shows no longer selling out.

"Big reviews and I'm thinking I'm still gonna be the n*gga and I just wasn't the n*gga," he said about Blank Face. “F*ck the reviews. These is nerds reviewing your sh*t, dawg. F*ck the good reviews ...  The response of good reviews and seeing shows not sold out made me confused."

Q's new album CrasH Talk moved about the same number of units in its first week as Blank Face, 78K. So it'll be interesting to see how the rapper takes that.

Q also talked about his love of golf with Charlamagne and how he regrets responding to those who criticized him for not posting about Nipsey Hussle and Mac Miller's deaths.

You can see him talk about his depression below starting at the 10:30 mark.
