Sales Of Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp A Butterfly' Went Way Up After Grammys

by HHL Editors

Kendrick Lamar didn't win Album Of The Year at the Grammys. But he did win five Grammys, the most of 2016, including Rap Album of The Year for To Pimp A Butterfly.

And he certainly had the most buzzed about performance of the show.

That all adds up to sales: In the week following the Grammys TPAB was up 219% (sales plus streaming) to 32,594 units, according to Hits Daily Double.

Other acts who had eventful Grammys had similar bumps. Alabama Shakes' three Grammy wins resulted in a 548% increase for their album Sound & Color. The Grammy winning Hamilton soundtrack was up 140% and Taylor Swift's Best Album winner 1989 jumped 99%.

Surprisingly, J. Cole's best rap album nominated 2014 Forest Hills Drive rose 195%. It seems odd that he got almost the same bump as his buddy Kendrick, but that's what the stats say.
