‘Wu-Tang Forever‘ was featured on Drake’s 2013 hit album Nothing Was The Same and sampled the Wu track 'It's Yourz.'
Wu was supposed to jump on the remix, and they even laid down some verses for it while they were on tour in France. But it never came together. In part because -- as U-God has explained -- they were on some 'hardcore shit' that didn't fit with the vibe of the track.
RZA was asked about the aborted remix during an interview with Power 106 yesterday.
First of all, I want to shout Drake out. I think he threw an alley-oop to us right there and I think we missed it," RZA said.He then said "yes" when asked by the hosts if he regretted not doing it, and explained why.
"I don't regret it for no popularity or nothing. If you become an elder, it's your duty to go back and work with the youth and rekindle that fire."Jump to 23:30 mark to hear about Drake.
Wu-Tang is dropping a new album The Sega Continues on October 13. You can see the tracklist here. (Drake isn't featured.)
