Once upon a time, Royce Da 5'9" could've been signed to Aftermath Records. In the 90s he was helping Eminem on his albums, so he was able to interact with Dr. Dre. Dre took a liking to Royce and offered him a deal that he ended up turning down to go with Tommy Boy Records.
Royce cites it as his biggest regret in his career when asked by Complex. But he wanted to make it clear that he's still happy with how things turned out. It's just that "what if" factor ...
"Sometimes I wonder what would've happened had I done that," he tells Complex. "What kind of music would I have made? He was offering me a $250,000 budget and unlimited Dre beats. Tommy Boy was just offering me a million dollars."Watch the interview below. Royce also discusses his upcoming album, Layers, getting sober, and more.
