Rich The Kid Backtracks After Calling Out Older Rappers Don't Own Their Masters

by Daryl Nelson

Rich The Kid criticized the music industry last month while taking his friend Famous Dex to rehab. Rich then hurled another critique at the industry.

Earlier this week, the "Plug Walk" performer posted a message about older rappers owning their masters. The subject of artists owning their masters was a big topic of discussion in 2020 after Kanye West ripped the kind of record deals that many people sign.

"You old n****s been rapping 100 years and still don’t own masters. Let that sizzle in ya spirit,” wrote Rich.

The 28-year-old got slammed on social media for his comment, so he backtracked some.

“When I said old n****s I really meant the old n****s who tryna act young but don’t own they sh*t, not the OG’s! I respect the OG’s that opened doors for me!” wrote Rich. “Now I’m tryna promote ownership n****s get mad cause they don’t own they sh*t… Sad."

What do you think about Rich's comment concerning older rappers and their masters?
