Rap Dominates Mid-Year Sales Charts; See Top 25

by HHL Editors

Buzz Angle just did their big mid-year report on the American music industry.

It found that Hip Hop/Rap has been the biggest genre of 2017, accounting for 20.6 percent of streams, album sales, and on-demand video streams.

Pop was second with 14.3 percent, R&B third at 9.3 percent and then Latin (8.5 percent) and country (8 percent.)

When it comes to individual artists, Drake has been king.  But the real MVP may be Eminem, who managed to be the 14th most "consumed" artist in the U.S. even though he hasn't dropped an album since 2013.
