Rae Sremmurd's third album SR3MM, which is  a triple disc, comes out later this week on May 4. But don't expect to hear a lot of complex lyrics on it, because the group isn't into that style.

The two brothers recently sat down with Hot 97's Nessa and said they don't want to make music that's too complicated, but that doesn't mean their songs won't have substance.

“We’re just making good music. We ain’t trying to make mathematical music or nothing like that,” said Swae Lee. "We’re not trying to get too complex with it. It’s complex in itself. We’re letting the music do all the talking, but it’s still gonna be quality music. It’s gonna have substance. It’s different.”

The group was then asked if they respected lyrically driven rap, like the kind Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole make, and it seems like they consider that kind of music old-school.

“We’re on a new wave. The old-school, all that Hip Hop, that’s beautiful, we respect that, but we’re in a whole other lane,” said Swae.  “We’re creating new lanes. We’re a new era of artists.”

What do you think about Sremm's words? Do you wish they would be more lyrical, or are you cool with the kind of music they make? You can hear their comments below starting at the 8:47 mark.
