R Kelly was recently attacked while sitting in his cell in Chicago's Metropolitan Correctional Center.
According to his lawyers, Kells overheard his fellow inmate Jeremiah Shane Farmer, a Latin King from Indiana who's serving time for beating two men to death with a hammer, plan the attack three weeks before the attack.
Kelly alerted the guards to Famer's intentions, but they allegedly did nothing to prevent the 39-year old murderer from walking into Kells' cell and pummelling the R&B legend with punches.
Furthermore, they accused the guards of planting the seeds of the attack by telling inmates that they had to go on lockdown because of protests outside the facility for Kelly, an announcement they say is highly unusual.
It's been reported that Farmer was angry that pro-Kelly protestors had put the facility in lockdown. In court filings, Farmer says "the government made him attack" Kelly and that he hoped the assault would "shed light on government corruption."
Kelly's lawyers are looking to have him bonded out before he faces trial for lots of sex crimes.
