Queen Latifah's bank-robbing Cleo character is killed by the police in the 1996 movie "Set If Off."
That taught Queen Latifah the actress a valuable lesson.
During an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, she explained that she's had a special clause in all of her movie contracts since.
“I put a death clause in my contract right after that movie. I was like, wait a minute, I’m starting to die too good in these movies, and if I die, I can’t be in the sequel,” Latifah explained. “No more dying. That's it!”
Smart move.
